Peace UCC Shawano was founded in the fall of 1902, with 15 charter members and their families. Since then, the church has gone through many changes as it met the needs of the times!
Structural Changes: The pictures scrolling to the right show the three main structural changes from the early church to today. The bell tower is the last remaining structure from the original church building constructed in 1903, the current sanctuary was built in 1957, and the Great Room was added on and dedicated in 1992.
Worship Changes: As history is keen to remind us, the generations change the needs of the church. As such, worship services change as well! A few of the changes Peace UCC has experienced over the years include the move from services being solely in German to a hybrid English-German service in 1922, a church band being formed in the late 1920's to play at services and in the community, and the purchase of a state-of-the-art organ in 1970. Today, some changes include the forming of a new Praise Band for Contemporary Sundays, new artwork beginning to be used throughout the church, and our new online ways of participating in worship!
Check out our calendar for a list of our upcoming events! We try to have one church community event a month such as a hike or family game night and one wider community event a quarter such as our Chili Dinners and Non-Profit Showcase!
Join us in person or online for Sunday morning services at 9:00 AM with communion celebrated on the first Sunday of the month and a contemporary service on the last Sunday of the month! We also offer a Thursday service on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 6:30 PM throughout the summer months and at 1:30 PM September through May!
Our past services our always posted on our YouTube channel here: Peace Church, Shawano - YouTube. Sermons try to be relevant to today's realities while remaining rooted within biblical teachings of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament!
